Wales Beach Walk – Rhosneigr & Newborough Beach, Anglesey

On Saturday morning, we woke up at a quarter to seven and packed all our bags and Mika’s bag and started our family trip to Anglesey, Wales. Since the weather was so good, we planned to take Mika out for a good beach walk. We drove to our mother-in-law’s home and picked her up. Mika was so excited to meet Grandma Irene and ran to her immediately.

We took A55 and drove to our first destination – Rhosneigr Beach. It was a small town but a lot of people stayed there for beach holiday. The weather there was a bit chilly and cool. We walked to our first beach and a lot of people were playing wind-surfing. Mika was curious with that kind of sport and barked at those surfers who were surfing from one side to another side. It also aroused Mika’s interest and chased after them on the beach. She also jumped into the sea and swam a bit. It was so funny that there was a little head on the sea and moving around. She enjoyed the day and had a good run/ walk on Rhosneigr Beach.

After so, we moved on to a cafe for a couple of drink. Irene and I ordered a cup of coffee, Mark had a glass of coke and Mika had a bowl of water. Perhaps she drank a lot of sea water so she was desperate for her drink.

We drove to the second destination – Newborough Beach. We were required to pay for £3 for the entrance and parking fee but it was worth. The beach there was even more beautiful than the previous one. The sand was finer and the sky was very blue. The beach was divided into 2 sections: dog allowed and dog prohibited. Mika climbed on the sand dune and had a good play there. We sat down next to the sea and took a break. Mika saw another border terrier and chased after it. However, they fought together in the end and Mark and I had to seperated them. We really didn’t know why she could not get along well with other border terrier.

We left Newborough at around 1:30p.m. and drove to Betws-y-Coed for a good lunch. We were so hungry that we ate all our 6 oz bacon & cheese burger. Betws-y-Coed was near Snowdonia and the landscape and view was fantastic. We enjoyed our meal and a short walk in the wood. We had a wonderful day out yesterday.

Mika & Magnum

Summer is coming and Mika cannot resist the temptation of Magnum. hee hee… Mika is like her dad. After the super, she will look forward to her dessert. She is a greedy dog. If we don’t let her lick the dessert, she will jump on the sofa and try to lick your food. hee hee.. it’s her tactics to get her food…

Anyway, we only give her the last bit and don’t want her to be unhealthy.

Also, Mark got Mika a new toy on Saturday. It was destroyed on Monday. She is Mika-chew!

Lake District Family Vacation

During the school half term break, Mark and I (also Mika) went to the Lake District for holiday. It’s a peaceful and quiet place and the scenes of the landscape are fabulous. We walked around and enjoyed our lunch next to the lakes. Ít’s such a wonderful day!

Also, Mika brought us a lot of laughters and tears — the first time swim; chasing after the ducks and running away with the sheep. Nevertheless, we all enjoyed the whole journey very much!!

We would like to go back again in the summer time.

Mika’s Hat

Mika visited the vet today again. She was so scared and frightened that she bit the vet who got bleeding with his hand. Poor Mika and poor vet.

The vet gave her a new ‘hat’ so as to hinder her licking her leg. In fact, her broken toe is getting better but still got an obvious wound on her right leg.

She needs to go back to the vet on Friday again to further check if the injured area is entirely recovered. aiya… she will fear again…. poor Mika…

Daddy said she has no mood after being back home from the vet; just lay down and slept. Sometime she makes some funny roar to tell you she feels painful with her leg… poor little thing.

We promise if she can recover on Sat, we will take her out for a walking day. Also, we are looking for some holiday at half term at Lake District so as to have a family outing again.

Derbyshire Trip

On the Halloween day, the Dorans, totally 5 people & 1 dog, went to Derbyshire for a family day out. The view there is splendid and the weather is quite nice. We enjoyed the trail walk very much. We had our lunch at a local pub. My puppy, Mika, suddenly jumped up and had a big bite of my hot beef sandwich on the table. wow….

Since it’s Halloween day, Mika has got a new outfit. Thankyou my friend, Orange, who sent 4 new cute outfits for Mika. Irene and Mark love the Bumble Bee suit. Irene said the ‘Burberry’ one is very classy and good for Christmas. The passerby on the trail also appreciated Mika’s new look and said,’ oh.. look at the dog in the bee suit’ haha…… It keeps Mika warm for whole day. I guess she loves it, hee hee…

Mika’s School Diary (Lesson 2)

On Sunday, Mika attended her second lesson. This time, Mark accompanied Mika and I stayed outside the range. We hope that it can make her concentrate on the lesson. In the end, she did quite well at school although there is still room for improvement.

The instructor taught us how to motivate her to keep walking by patting our knees. Also, we cannot let her pull the leash but ask her to walk with our heels instead. I guess it will take time for Mika to acquire this walking skill as she’s still a little baby, right?

So far, Mark and I are quite satisfied with Mika’s performance at the school and we both agree to keep taking her school in long term as a way for training her. Yes, education is a long process. When we see Mika’s progress, we are both very happy.

Mika’s Schooling Diary (Lesson 1)

It was the first day of Mika to go to school. She was so nervous at the very first beginning and became better later on. As her mom is a teacher, she believes that education is essential to everyone, including her lovely little bit wild puppy.

Mark and I arrived at the school which is located in Delamere 15 minutes earlier. When Mark was busy with the registration work, Mika and I were waiting outside the office. There were a lot of dogs surrounding the training area. These dogs were pretty big size such as hound dogs or shephard dogs. They kept barking at each other for saying hello or defense that I didn’t know… but what I know is that Mika was very uncomfortable with their barking. She wet herself and wanted to jump into the hole next to us for escape. hee hee… she is a chicken, right?? Mark and I kept stroking her to make her feel safe and comfy.

For the very first lesson, Mika learnt to listen to our commands including “Sit”, “Stand”, “Down”, “Stay” and “Heel”. She learnt how to walk with us with a lead. Also, it was the first time for her to get connection with other dogs and puppies. The instructor said it’s important to get her to socialise with other dogs. However, if we find she has a tendency to defend or attack other dogs, we have to stop her immediately and correct her behaviour by shouting “Leave” and holding back the lead. It is crucial to stop her building the bad habit. We also asked the instructor how to stop her chewing our trousers and his method is really practical. haha……… Anyway, the training lesson lasted for an hour and half . At the end of the lesson, she was totally exhausted and no longer followed any instructions. She was just either “sit” or “down” to take a rest. hee hee….. she is a lazy bone, isn’t she?

10-week-old Mika

Our friend, Dave, came our home and took some professional pictures of Mika. Is she very lovely? She’s a border terrier and very intelligent. So far, she can perform very well with our command like ‘Sit’, ‘Down’ and ‘Stay’. However, we decide to send her to a local puppy school to receive formal education so she can become a better girl. hee hee hee
